Senior Survey Technician

Reports to:  Vice President of Surveying

Salary Range: $62,000 – $80,000

Poznecki-Camarillo is looking for a Sr. Survey Technician with diverse project experience.   The Sr. Survey Technician will work under moderate supervision and will be responsible for survey computations, mapping, generating DTM models, drafting surveys, conduction research, creating legal descriptions, creating plats, data processing, and coordinating with team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understand and use established company and/or client standards for drafting including layer names, line and character styles, drawings and window names, and file names for sheet layout
  • Coordinate and communicate with project team in surveying, engineering, production, design and management to meet overall project objectives and deadlines
  • Planning, organizing, and performing land surveys under the supervision of a RPLS
  • Prepare and/or revise plans, profiles, and detailed drawings and exhibits within company standards from redlines for a variety of projects utilizing CAD software
  • Research of existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents; and maintains field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems
  • Compiling record data to create a working drawing for survey crews and processing field data from the field crews
  • Preparing metes and bounds descriptions, parcel maps, boundary maps, deed sketches, and closure sheets.
  • Assist RPLS and Survey Technician staff in work production and assembly of project deliverables.
  • Performs complex surveying calculations and analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy; provides survey information for Geographic Information System (GIS); and prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records, and other survey reports
  • Participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, engineers, and client representatives.
  • Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision
  • Maintain organized work area to allow access of project information by other team members
  • Flexible in work assignments and team assignments

EDUCATION

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • 4 years of relevant work experience under the supervision of an RPLS may be accepted in lieu of education requirement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 4 years’ experience in Land Surveying and CAD design for surveying projects (non-oil/gas)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D or MicroStation/GeoPak
  • Strong ethics
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Strong sense of time management and ability to prioritize and manage tasks on concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project need
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team environment
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with people in various roles with different leadership styles
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

PREFERED REQUIREMENTS

  • 6 years’ experience in CAD design for transportation and land development projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • Previous experience in TxDOT (or other DOT) consulting engineering projects
  • Experience with OpenRoads
  • Experience with collaboration software (ProjectWise, Bluebeam, etc.)
