Role: Prime | Agency Client: City of San Antonio, Public Works
Poznecki-Camarillo, Inc. (PCI) provided project management, civil engineering, and surveying services for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Commerce Street (a 4-lane roadway), just east of Downtown San Antonio, TX in the Saint Paul’s Square Historic District.
The project involved design enhancements to include design and placement of artistic benches, block-out for trees and grates, reconstruction of curbs, brick pavers at intersections, roadway and drainage design, preparation of construction plans and specifications, cost estimating, utility improvements, sidewalk, pedestrian, and ADA enhancements to bring to standards, and construction observation and administration.
PCI was also contracted by SAWS for the sewer main replacement and water main adjustments, and the project was joint-bid with CPS for gas main adjustments. Due to abandoned trolley tracks that existed under the pavement along the center of Commerce Street, PCI designed the new sanitary sewer main with a dual main, which minimized the number of times cutting would be required across the existing 18” of concrete base (with steel ties for service lines). This project was also a conversion project for CPS which consisted of removing all overhead power lines and converting them underground.
