San Antonio River – Museum Reach Expansion (SARA)

San Antonio River – Museum Reach Expansion (SARA)

Role: Subconsultant   |   Client: San Antonio River Authority (SARA)

In 2009, a new River Walk extension was completed and named as the Museum Reach. This extension included a 1.33-mile stretch that includes the San Antonio Zoo, Japanese Tea Gardens, Brackenridge Park, the historic Pearl District, and three museums – The Witte, The Doseum, and The San Antonio Museum of Art. PCI was contracted as a surveying subconsultant to assist SARA with the Museum Reach extension of the San Antonio River Walk for this area of Downtown San Antonio. Surveying tasks included a topographic survey within the apparent river right-of-way and an additional 50-feet on each side. The survey included a structural bridge detail for the south half of the project, location and identification of trees, bridge detailing, river bathometry, and establishing eight temporary benchmarks for the south half of the river project between Lexington Street and Jones Street.
