JOB SUMMARY
Poznecki-Camarillo is looking for a Surveyor-in-Training /Sr. Survey Technician with strong surveying skills, experience and the drive to succeed. We would like this candidate to be knowledgeable and experienced in performing legal research, interpreting and plotting deeds and maps, creating plats and legal descriptions and perform surveying calculations. The candidate should possess strong CADD skills and be open to utilizing multiple CADD platforms. Along with possessing technical expertise, this position will require an individual who can lead production, assign tasks to team members, and can communicate effectively and professionally.
Poznecki-Camarillo has a strong history in successfully being awarded and successfully completing projects (non-oil & gas) across Texas. We utilize current technology and the current team members in the Surveying Division have well over 250 years of diverse surveying experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Planning, organizing, and performing land surveys under the supervision of a RPLS
- Prepare and/or revise plans, profiles, and detailed drawings and exhibits within company standards from redlines for a variety of projects utilizing MicroStation/GeoPak and AutoCAD Civil 3D software (We are willing to train the right candidate)
- Researching of existing record information, including maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents Maintains field data records and survey project files
- Compiles record data to create a working drawing for survey crews and ability to process field data
- Preparing metes and bounds descriptions, plats, exhibits, deed sketches, and closure sheets
- Performs survey calculations
- Provide direction to survey crews and office staff engaged in surveys for construction, topographic, boundary, right-of-way, and control survey projects
- Participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, engineers, and client representatives
EDUCATION
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 6 years of relevant work experience under the supervision of an RPLS may be accepted in lieu of education requirement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 4 years’ experience in Land Surveying, Mapping, and CAD design for transportation and land development projects (non-oil and gas).
- Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification or able to sit for the exam within 1 year
- Proficient in MicroStation/GeoPak and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient with data collection using GPS and Robotic Total Station equipment
- Thorough knowledge and adherence to Surveyor ethics, surveying principles, and practices of surveying
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Strong sense of time management and ability to prioritize and manage tasks on concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
- Ability to contribute to a positive team environment
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with people in various roles with different leadership styles across all levels of the organization
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
PREFERED REQUIREMENTS
- Field experience and a strong understanding of field survey practices
- Previous experience in TxDOT (or other DOT) consulting engineering projects
- Experience with OpenRoads
- Experience with collaboration software (ProjectWise, Bluebeam, etc.)
