JOB SUMMARY
Poznecki-Camarillo is looking for a CAD Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for providing CAD support to engineers for federal, state, and local roadway and highway infrastructure projects. The CAD Technician will work under the supervision of Engineer(s) and be responsible for preparing drawings and designs using MicroStation, GEOPAK, Civil 3D, and OpenRoads for project plans, documents, reports, and exhibits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare and/or revise plans, profiles, and detailed drawings and exhibits within company standards from redlines for a variety of projects utilizing CAD software
- Develop construction documents showing topographical contours, elevations, profiles and cross-sections as well as develop draft design engineering drawings
- Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision
- Coordinate and communicate with project team in engineering, production, design and management to meet overall project objectives and deadlines
- Performs project CAD tasks and assignments
- Understand and use established company standards for drafting including layer names, line and character styles, drawings and window names, and file names for sheet layout
- Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision
- Coordinating and managing daily activities/schedules of various assigned projects
- Assist engineers and CAD staff in work production and assembly of project deliverables
- Maintain organized work area to allow access of project information by other team members
- Flexible in work assignments and team assignments
EDUCATION
Associate Degree in CAD design. Three (3) years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of education requirement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 3 years’ experience in CAD design for transportation and drainage projects
- Proficient in MicroStation, Excel, and Word
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, across all levels of the organization
- Strong sense of time management and ability to prioritize and manage tasks on concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
- Ability to contribute to a positive team environment
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with people in various roles with different leadership styles across all levels of the organization
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- 7 years of experience with drainage design, analyses using hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models such as Geopak Drainage, HY-8, HEC-RAS, and HEC HMS
- 7 years of experience with federal, state and local transportation projects
- Project management experience in the transportation industry
- Previous experience in TxDOT consulting engineering projects
- Experience with OpenRoads
- Experience with collaboration software (ProjectWise, BlueBeam, etc.)
- SWMM modeling experience
- SUDA or other 3D Design experience
- Experience with business development, marketing, and networking in the Texas marketplace

Working conditions are primarily in a mixed office and home-based setting with occasional requirements to operate a company vehicle and perform site visits.
