Survey Field Technician

Base Hourly Rate: $17.00 – $21.00

JOB SUMMARY

Poznecki-Camarillo is looking for a Survey Field Technician (Instrument/Rod Man) to join our team.  We have an ample amount of work in a stable field. We have long-tenured employees with a very low turnover. Poznecki-Camarillo is a mid-sized firm that has successfully tackled projects with increasing size, complexity, and range of services. Founded in 1981 as a land surveying and engineering firm, we have consistently and carefully added new services and staff as needed. In addition to our flourishing surveying and civil engineering departments, over the last decade we have developed bustling public involvement and environmental practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for assisting the Crew Chief in the operation of a field survey crew.
  • Major objectives are the quality (accuracy, thoroughness, meeting regulatory requirements, public relations) of work, safety, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Must operate equipment, maintain safe work environment, protect, and maintain the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features.
  • Load and unload equipment from truck and carry equipment
  • Run level rod to obtain elevations.
  • Hold prism pole for horizontal positions.
  • Requires a lot of walking outside year-round through all kinds of terrain and in extreme heat and cold
  • Some overnight travel may be required.
  • Provide and practice acceptable safety and health standards in the performance of assigned tasks and have a fundamental understanding of basic safety requirements.
  • Apply accident prevention techniques and develop habits of safe practice and operations of all assigned personnel.

 

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • One (1) year of progressive experience in land survey field operations and proficiency with land survey equipment.
  • Good technical skills: process oriented behavioral traits including being steady, helpful, analytical, a problem solver, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team environment
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Two (2) years of progressive experience in land survey field operations and proficiency with land survey equipment.
  • Knowledge/ experience with Trimble equipment
  • TxDOT experience

Working conditions are primarily in a field/outdoors setting with a daily requirement to operate a company vehicle.
