The ideal candidate is interested in pursuing a professional career in surveying. This role provides hands-on experience working alongside professional surveyors while gaining exposure to modern surveying equipment, data collection, and mapping processes. The position is designed for individuals who are beginning their careers in surveying and working toward completing their academic requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist survey crews in the field by helping set up equipment, placing markers, and supporting data collection activities.
- Observe and learn the use of surveying instruments such as GPS/GNSS receivers, total stations, and levels under supervision.
- Help organize and maintain survey equipment and field supplies.
- Assist with organizing field notes, photos, and survey data for project documentation.
- Provide support with basic office tasks such as scanning documents, organizing project files, and preparing materials for survey staff.
- Assist with simple research of plats, maps, and public records under supervision.
- Participate in field and office activities to gain exposure to land surveying processes and standards.
- Follow company safety procedures and maintain awareness of field safety practices.
- Perform other support tasks as assigned to assist the surveying team.
EDUCATION
- Actively pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Engineering Mathematics, Forestry, or related field..
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Interest in pursuing a career in land surveying.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Able to pass a background check
PREFERED REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of introductory coursework in surveying or civil engineering.
- Familiarity with basic surveying equipment or CAD software.
- Interest in pursuing Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification and eventual licensure as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS).

Working conditions are primarily in a mixed office and home-based setting with occasional requirements to operate a company vehicle and perform site visits.
